Teachers - Field Trips that come to You!

Click here to see our flier (PDF). Teaching Tidepools is our highly-popular original outreach program developed to allow San Joaquin Valley preschool and kindergarten children to see and touch our living California tide pool animal collection and interact with two of our staff educators right in their own classrooms. Kids experience the sea creatures along with an entertaining, interactive standards-based curriculum teachers love. Fees are payable prior to booking and are $125 per 45 minute preschool or kindergarten class (up to 25 children) in the Fresno/Clovis metropolitan area, with a two class minimum per visit.

We also come to birthday parties which makes learning with family and friends really fun! Birthday parties are $250 for a two-hour visit with presentation, game, Tidepools! sing-a-long and party favors all designed for children 10 years old and under. Mileage fees apply for classes or parties outside of Fresno or Clovis and a personalized, ocean-themed cake is available at additional charge. Please e-mail info@AquariusAquarium.org for more information.

AND... if you have a swimming pool or access to a pool, our PADI certified SCUBA instructor can also be booked along with Teaching Tidepools to take kids on a safe underwater SCUBA adventure right in their own backyard! All SCUBA gear, air tanks and digital underwater photos are included for an additional $125.00.

Please e-mail info@AquariusAquarium.org to schedule Teaching Tidepools for your children today! (Now scheduling for Summer and Fall 2008)

Other current programs

  • Our mentoring program at the Center for Advanced Research and Technology (CART) is now teaching Central California high school students the necessary techniques to raise corals in aquariums.

  • Aquarius Aquarium Institute's Marine Life Presentations give our Charter Members, students and the general public opportunities to meet guest biologists, SCUBA divers and underwater photographers.

  • Aquarius Aquarium Institute is home to and primary sponsor of The Breeder's Registry, which is working to take the pressure off wild ecosystems by collecting and freely disseminating vital technical information about aquarium propagation of imperiled marine fish and corals. With the help of a worldwide network of professional and amateur aquarists, we are documenting the aquarium reproduction of many of the familiar species that have become recognized as staples in the marine aquarium industry.

  • The Institute is also the exclusive local sponsor of the daily broadcast of Our Ocean World, a nationally-syndicated radio feature that brings listeners news and information about issues related to the ocean. Click on the link above to listen to archived shows or tune in Monday - Friday at 8:58 a.m. on Valley Public Radio KVPR (FM 89.3) in Fresno and KPRX (FM 89.1) in Bakersfield. These two stations combined reach California's entire central and southern San Joaquin Valley.

    Public Aquarium
In the near future, we will be expanding our activities to include the establishing of a major world-class public aquarium facility in Fresno with exhibits emphasizing the interconnectedness of our inland region to our aquatic planet through innovative exhibits of fish and marine life from throughout the world - nearly all of which will be propagated at our facility.

Tropical coral reefs and other vital aquatic ecosystems throughout the world continue to be devastated by climate change, human destruction and natural events. Time is rapidly running out before the extinction of many important species occurs in the wild. We are acting now to preserve those surviving animals before it is too late. We invite you to join us!
